Manchester's acclaimed DJ & production trio, MASON Collective, has collaborated with the burgeoning house innovator Fletch for the release of STREET HEAT VOL 1, their latest edit pack set to drop on February 22nd.
True to their affinity for classic hip-hop, soul, R&B, afrobeats, and Latin music samples, STREET HEAT VOL 1 showcases the trio and MASON family member Fletch reshaping a trove of nostalgic gems.
The opening track, ‘WALK AWAY’, bursts onto the scene with an explosive house groove and soulful vocals, while ‘QUE PASO’ follows suit with Latin-flavored syncopated beats. ‘TONIGHT’ delivers a smooth deep house groove fueled by funk bass and driving hi-hats, and ‘NOBODY BETTER’ crafts a high-energy garage tune around an addictive vocal sample and bouncing synth pads. Bringing the EP to a captivating close, ‘BY YOUR SIDE’ adds intricate percussion and dreamy flutes into the mix.
A versatile and endlessly creative EP, STREET HEAT VOL 1 signifies the continued collaboration between close DJ associates MASON Collective and Fletch, who recently combined their talents on the sublime remix of the hit Tyla single ‘Water’, released late last year.
Embracing both the music and fashion realms, Mason Collective - led by Blair Suarez, Adam Myles, and Omar Guedar - is riding the momentum of a busy 2023. Following the acclaimed releases of January’s MASON Edits: Vol 2 and April’s Soul Rebel EP, the Manchester trio made their Defected debut with ‘People In Love’ featuring Bipolar Sunshine. Their packed summer included appearances at the BPM Festival in Costa Rica, as well as shows in Cartagena Colombia, Napoli, Rome, Milan, Printworks London, and Barcelona, among others. The Collective also introduced their new label imprint, V House, with the single ‘Samburu’ alongside AJ Christou.
Infusing their house productions with hip-hop and UK garage influences, the trio has garnered attention with releases on Hot Trax, Defected, Solid Grooves, Knee Deep In Sound, Saved Records, Loco Dice’s Desolat, and their own label, Whippin’.
Fletch’s signature style of forward-thinking house music has caught the attention of industry heavyweights including The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, Luciano, and Ricardo Villalobos, ensuring his rise to prominence.
Kicking off the new year in style, STREET HEAT VOL 1 propels MASON Collective and Fletch further into the underground music scene with some of the UK’s most exciting new music.
