Flashmob: stories about music, freedom, and the soul of house

Few names carry the pulse of house music’s evolution quite like Flashmob. From the underground basements of Milan to packed festival arenas, Sandro’s story is one of rhythm, reinvention, and raw emotion. He’s the kind of artist who doesn’t chase trends; he creates waves, trusting intuition over algorithms and energy over ego. With his latest single Stories About Music lighting up dancefloors and radio playlists alike, Flashmob is stepping into a new chapter of his career, one that’s brighter, freer, and fueled by the same passion that first drove him to drop law school and follow the beat that changed his life.

In our conversation, Flashmob opened up about the moments that shaped him, from the Italian underground that taught him freedom to the global breakthrough of Need In Me that redefined his path. He reflects on evolution, mentorship, and the inner journey that fuels his creativity today. Across themes of growth, resilience, and joy, Flashmob reminds us that house music isn’t just a sound; it’s a state of being, and his latest chapter proves that real stories never stop unfolding on the dancefloor.

The Legacy and the Early Days

Before the tours, the label, and the global recognition, there was a kid from Milan who simply wanted to tell stories through sound. For Flashmob, those first dancefloors were sacred places where connection mattered more than fame or format.

“Those days were made of stories, stories about music,” he recalls. “People from different ages and backgrounds came together with one thing in common: wanting to listen to a story a DJ would tell them through music.”

It wasn’t about phones or highlights. It was about presence. “In those years, you would actually live that moment, all together. You’d listen to a DJ for three or four hours and a story would unfold, one made of energy, of freedom, of something you’d never forget.”

That sense of immersion still drives his sets today.

“If you don’t get lost, loose and free, then it’s not the same thing. Music has to be lived.”

Then came the record that changed everything. Need In Me wasn’t just a breakthrough; it was a rebirth that reshaped Flashmob’s path forever.

“That record was a turning point for me,” he says. “After surviving the 2004 tsunami in Thailand, I decided to drop my law career to follow my dream, to satisfy the need in me.”

He never expected it to become a global anthem. “I wasn’t even sure I wanted to release it; it didn’t sound underground enough to my ears. Turns out I was wrong. Suddenly, I was playing over a hundred shows a year. It made me grow and understand what really matters. I walked into music to find myself, to be cured by it, not to get lost.”

That moment also sparked a new artistic maturity.

“It allowed me to grow, to test new sounds, to evolve. I didn’t have a plan B. I just gave everything I had, and it still feels like that today.”

Evolution and Reinvention

After Need In Me, the challenge was no longer about success but sustainability. Many artists fade after a breakthrough, but Flashmob chose evolution over repetition. His sound has shifted, stretched, and transformed, mirroring his personal journey.

“I feel it’s more about how I approach anything mentally in my life; the sound changes and choices are only a reflection of that. I am always chasing the Sandro I want to become, and that keeps me constantly moving forward to be better at what I love, who I am, and what makes me happy. There have been moments when I was destroyed and when I had to knock out the old Sandro to make space for a new version of myself that had overcome things that were stopping me from becoming better.”

For him, reinvention begins within.

“The sound is just a reflection of the internal journey. Without that, you are empty-handed in the music industry. It’s never really enough in the end, so either you find value in doing it with love and for the right reasons, or you will get very hurt.”

Trends move faster than ever, but Flashmob has managed to stay grounded while keeping its finger on the pulse. His perspective on change is as musical as it is philosophical.

“I feel I have the privilege of being part of the evolution of electronic music,” he says.

“It’s what I love, and I’m deeply interested in it, so I can’t disconnect. What’s next nearly always has a little of what was defining in the past, so it’s actually pretty easy for me because I know music. It’s what I do every day and all day.”

His latest single, Stories About Music, feels like a celebration of that mindset. It’s a track full of warmth, groove, and optimism, carrying the kind of timeless energy that cuts through the noise of trends.

“I firmly believe people recognize the truth and want to see the right people rise in this industry,” he says.

“The love I’m receiving makes me feel it’s now my time. The single is happy, Sandro, as my managers Jorn and Chris would say. It’s modern house music that spreads love and positive energy, and that’s what people want these days: real, positive, happy vibes.”

Creative Process and Flow

With nearly a thousand gigs behind him, Flashmob’s approach to the studio has evolved from curiosity to craftsmanship. The process that once relied on intuition and trial has become more deliberate, grounded in experience and emotional clarity.

“Ten years ago, I had less information about music and less experience. I’ve done approximately 900 gigs all over the world, and that has changed me a lot in many different ways. I used to be afraid of experimenting and scared of what other DJs would think of my music. These days, I try to push the boundaries. It’s risky, but it’s the only way to be real and move forward for me.”

Experience, he adds, brings confidence to make the harder creative calls.

“I try to start from an excellent idea or not start at all. Starting with half an idea means changing everything halfway through. It’s all about time management, coherent sound choice, and self-belief.”

“My relationship with myself and especially with my team has created this new magic around me,” he explains.

“I feel ready to move forward. I’ve found a space where I feel sonically at home and that I love to play and produce.”

This period of renewal is rooted in collaboration and care.

“I’ve been studying a lot to find new ways to do things and to regain the initial enthusiasm. Thanks to my team, I’ve re-gained joy in doing my thing. I now have the privilege of being surrounded by people who actually guard me from myself and care for me. The right team can really make a huge difference. Happy days.”

Flashmob Records and Mentorship

Over the years, Flashmob Records has become a trusted source of distinctive, high-quality house music. It stands as both a record label and a launchpad for emerging talent, built on the belief that attitude matters as much as production.

“It’s the aptitude that I look for,” he says.

“The high quality needs to be there, of course. My label is the place where DJs who know music go to grab tracks, but it’s also a platform that has launched a huge number of talents.”

“You need to have many talents to be successful in music, so I try to sign people that I see can make it and try to give them a hand.”

Philosophy and Future of House Music

For Flashmob, house music has always been more than a sound. It’s a culture, a language, and a shared feeling that connects people across generations.

“House is more than a genre,” he says.

“I feel House Music is a feeling. It’s a way of living music that music lovers share; it’s an attitude toward music and others. It involves kindness and wanting to share happy moments. The sound itself has evolved and is now largely contaminated, but I feel real things are gaining importance. People have had enough of the nonsense. House music is coming back hugely at the moment, and I am very excited.”

As he looks to the future, Flashmob’s focus is not on competition but on happiness and continuity. He sees the next decade as a time to enjoy what he has built and to share that energy with others.

“The next chapter, the next ten years, are going to be full of joy and happiness. That’s what I wish for myself. I feel I am only getting started. What you have seen up to now is very little compared to what I will do. Thank you.”

Flashmob returns with Stories About Music, a heartfelt and powerful tribute to the roots of house music, crafted for a new generation of dancefloors. The single, out November 7, 2025, bridges the timeless and the contemporary, fusing analog warmth with modern precision.

Built around a soulful vocal dedication to the late Will, Stories About Music embodies the emotional essence that defines the genre: raw groove, deep rhythm, and human connection. Flashmob channels the spirit of the underground while propelling it forward, creating a track that feels both nostalgic and futuristic.

This record is about where we come from and where we’re going,” says Flashmob. “It’s a thank you to the music that made us and to the people who keep it alive.

Already gaining strong early support across clubs and radio shows, Stories About Music captures everything Flashmob stands for: authenticity, movement, and the pure joy of rhythm. This release is not just a track, it’s a story, a feeling, and a reminder that house music remains eternal.
